Globally there is a shortage of high level skills and leadership talent. This is particularly true in developing economies.

Organisations in the public and private sector, therefore, need to compete to attract and retain talent.

Successful organisations globally have made talent leadership part of the leadership DNA. It is considered the most import source of differentiation and sustainability.

This workshop aims to equip leaders and HR professionals with the strategies, processes and tools to help their organisations develop a talent surplus rather than a talent deficit and be recognised as an employer of choice in the country.

Outcomes

On completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Understand what great companies around the world do to build a comprehensive talent strategy
  • Understand the impact of strategy on future talent
  • Understand and address policy issues and principles that inform talent management in the organisation
  • Identify the factors tat will attract talent and build on what makes the organisation an employer of choice
  • Understand the processes for identifying talent in the organisation and implement high powered succession planning and career management
  • Understand the formal and informal processes involved in developing talent and specifically the role of leaders in this process
  • Determine what leadership means in the organisation and how key leadership behaviours can become part of the organisational DNA. This has a considerable impact on talent management
  • Understand the issues associated with retaining talent and the impact of engaging talent
  • Understand the governance structures associated with talent management to ensure the "system"remains vibrant and is effectively controlled
  • Understand the roles of the different role players in the system

Learning Process:

Throughout the workshop cutting edge processes and tools will provide. Through interactive facilitation, participants will develop an in depth understanding of the principles of talent leadership as well as application of practical tools. Participants will be expected to apply their learning to their own organisations and work in groups to share their own expertise and experiences.

Examples from leading global companies' best practices will be provided.

Learning Process:

The workshop is aimed at senior leaders and HR professionals within the private sector, parastatals and public sector who are responsible for the talent strategy and framework that will drive the future business strategy, organisations are encouraged to send both senior leaders and HR professionals to attend.

  • Ensure that their organisations have the talent to deliver their future business strategy
  • Position their organisation as an employer of choice to attract key skills and talent
  • Implement strategies that will contribute to the retention of key talent thereby reducing the direct and indirect costs associated with the loss of such talent
  • Ensure that talent within the organisation is used optimally to the benefit of the business
  • Enhance their own role and position themselves as talent leaders in their organisation
